Care After COVID: What the Pandemic Revealed Is Broken in Healthcare and How to Reinvent It
Join New America’s Health Innovations Lab and the International Security Program on Monday, May 10th at 12:00 pm for a conversation about the future of healthcare in the post-COVID world with Dr. Shantanu Nundy and Senior Health Policy Fellow Rear Admiral Susan Blumenthal, M.D., M.P.A, Former U.S. Assistant Surgeon General and Director, New America’s Health Innovations Lab.

The COVID-19 pandemic put a magnifying glass on the myriad faults in America’s inadequate healthcare system— inaccessibility, unaffordability, inequity, fragility—but it also revealed just how flexible the system can be in a time of crisis. Perhaps most surprisingly, the pandemic has ushered in a new era of healthcare that may actually improve our experiences as patients now and in the years ahead.

In his new book, Care After COVID, Shantanu Nundy, M.D., M.B.A., outlines a bold vision to transform care in the post-pandemic era providing a roadmap of how we can build on the explosion of telemedicine and digital health to create a more affordable and equitable health care future. As a pioneering leader in applying technology to advance health in the United States, Dr. Blumenthal will add her perspectives on re-designing public health infrastructure in this decade and beyond. She will also discuss BeatTheVirus.org, a new resource hub and social media campaign on COVID-19.

May 10, 2021 12:00 PM in Eastern Time (US and Canada)
