Growing New Ideas in the National Security Space
The struggle for equity and justice. Generational transition. The shocks of technological change and pandemic. Shifting realities of national and global power. All those trends seem to call for dramatically new approaches to security policy-making. With a new Administration and Congress, Washington is full of talk about new ideas. But what does innovation actually look like? What supports exist, and what are the biggest barriers to an individual or group who says, “I have a better way?”

Join the Women of Color Advancing Peace and Security (WCAPS) Redefining National Security Initiative and New America’s New Models of Policy Change Initiative to explore what innovation looks like right now.

We will hear from authors of WCAPS’ series of policy papers by women of color and winners of New America’s reshaping U.S. security essay contest, who will discuss the origins of their innovative national security policy ideas as well as their experiences with bringing new proposals into the policy arena.

Mar 2, 2021 12:00 PM in Eastern Time (US and Canada)
